Live Weather on a Chumby

We have a feeling this is perhaps only of interest to a very small audience... but if you have a Chumby, live in London or just want to know the weather in London via a live feed from the du roof then your in luck. We have knocked up a quick 'Chumby Widget' to display live weather data.

iPhone Live Weather App

For various reasons we have been away from the blog for the last few days, which although annoying, has given us enough spare time to knock up a live weather 'app' for the iPhone.

While not strictly an app in its purest sense, using various meta tags it runs full screen in Safari once added to the home screen and includes an icon, making it as close to an app as you can get. Indeed using meta tags is a quick and easy way to get the 'app look' while not having to go through the iTunes store.

The data refreshes every 3 seconds via our offices in Central London, the weather station is located on a roof just off Tottenham Court Road.

Simply go to http://www.casa.ucl.ac.uk/weather/iphone.html and then click the + icon to 'Add to Home Screen' on your phone. The page is formatted to work with the majority of mobile devices so if your not an iPhone user you can still get the live updates.

At the moment only London is available but if there is interest we will make the template available for other users and locations :)

Live Weather Feed: London

We have updated our live weather feed from the roof of CASA in Central London. The data now includes UV and Solar levels alongside Wind Chill, Heat Index, Temperature, Wind Gust etc.

Live Weather in Blogger using Ajax: Central London

Below is a test to see if we can embed a live weather feed from our roof here in Central London into the blog:



If its working you should see the data update every 2 seconds. Its a quick and easy way to get live data into a page using Ajax. The layout is an updated version of the excellent original template found at http://www.carterlake.org/webtemplates.php

Live Weather Central London: Flash and iPhone

After a few months out of action due to a dodgy anemometer a trip to the roof today has bought our weather station back online.

The weather station is located on the roof of 1-19 Torrington Place, just off Tottenham Court Road in Central London, providing a live feed every two seconds.

We also have an ajax powered version formatted for the iPhone - simply double tap to zoom into each section, again data updates every two seconds:
